Bangarang the Comic Magazine for Kids
Here’s a flip through of the first issue.
Something You Can Read Soon
The Adventures of He-Man and Porter
Okay, this isn’t quite a comic but rather an illustrated novel. BUT it’s done by two guys who do make comic strips and it looks stupidly fun. Written by Stephan Pastis who does Pearls Before Swine and illustrated by Will Henry who does Wallace the Brave.
Something to Watch
Everyone knows the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started as a comic book right? Anyway, this Christmas short with the Turtles Vs. A.I. is pretty great. (Sidenote, the voicecasting for the turtles is so good).
Launch Your Own Graphic Novel
This newsletter is mostly to inspire your kid to read through comics and graphic novels but I know I’ve got some fellow professional creators that follow along as well. For those that have a graphic novel coming out in the next year or so, check out this fantastic course. Registration closes July 2nd, so act fast if you’re interested.
Something To Inspire
If you’re on social media much, you’ve likely seen the brief video essays Jason Pargin makes. In this one he talks about 2 different youtubers that have just had massive movie hits. I find it heartening that people are able to make things on their own and the world comes calling.
I particularly liked this closing line, “When technology is done right, this is what it can do. Not make things for people, but break down the barriers that prevent people from making things.”
It’s 4 minutes long. Go watch it.
That’s it for this round. Now if you haven’t already, go to comicbangarang.com and subscribe to Bangarang – The Comic Magazine for Kids!
