Song I’m digging

RÜFÜS DU SOL ●● Treat You Better (Purple Disco Machine Remix)

I came across this song/remix toward the end of last year and it just puts me in a good mood. The underlying bass riff pulsing along with the repeating chorus with just enough change to keep it from getting boring.

Book I’m Reading

Agent 9 by James Burks

One of those ideas that you wish you had come up with. It’s like James Bond for kids but with animals. Come for the art, stay for the action. I mean look at that polar bear, too good!

Animist

I’ve been loving Animist’s stop motion videos. He uses (mostly) high end articulated toys for humorous short videos. You might have seen this latest one going around with Darth Vader and and his pet AT-AT. That little foot scrabble gets me every time. He shares behind the scenes videos as well.

What I’m Up To

I’ve finished up the preview art for Woodland Hills and sent it off to my agent. I’m pretty happy with it. Now I’m waiting to hear if there are any notes and what else is needed before she starts submitting to editors.

I took a much needed family vacation last month to Sequoia National Park. It was wonderful to be out of the house and away from the city for a few days. I really loved hiking around the giant sequoia trees. They really are impressive. Also got to see General Sherman, the biggest tree in the world.

I found myself taking lots of pictures and being really excited to draw Woodland Hills. Most of the story takes place in town but there’s a sequence with the boys hiking and now I can’t wait to draw it.

I have a space story (not Woodland) that I want to do at some point. Maybe Space X will let me tag along for some inspiration. Anyways, that’s what’s awesome this month!
